Fort Meigs - Life in Early Ohio

We went to Fort Meigs this morning. It's a fort in neighboring Perrysburg that played a key role in the War of 1812:

In 1813, Fort Meigs became the focal point of the War of 1812. Here, the British suffered their first setback of the Northwest Campaign when a detachment of American troops stood against the combined forces of British and Canadian soldiers and Tecumseh's warriors.

They had a lot of re-enactors there this weekend, so we thought it would be a good time to go check it out. :)

One of the blockhouses. This is the first floor, where they shot cannons from they window.

This is the second floor of the same blockhouse. Twenty soldiers would occupy this room and shoot their rifles out the windows.
