Daddy's Birthday

When Scott went to blow out the candles, the girls beat him to the punch.
I think Owen had a good time. :)

Spring

The temps are in the 40s today, so we decided to go play in the backyard. The kids colored with sidewalk chalk, played in the snow, and hunted for leaves.

Liz informed me that she was going to make a leaf book with all the soggy leaves she had collected. I--being the awesome mom that I am--responded with a lukewarm "cool," but in my head I was thinking, "I am so going to throw those away when she's not looking." But check it out: she's tracing the leaves and coloring them. This kid is quite creative. She needs to hang out more with her creative aunts, like Aunt Kristi, to nurture some of this creativity. She definitely doesn't get it from me!

Personal Pizzas

The kids got to put their own toppings on the pizza. It was pretty easy to tell the pizzas apart, because Lizzie had her special cheese, Heidi took a bite out of all of her pepperonis, Daniel ate most of the cheese before we put it in the oven, and Michael's was "normal." :)

St. Patrick's Day

We read St. Patrick's Day books that we checked out from the library and did some simple (really simple) activities:

We colored shamrocks to make place mats.

Look at Owen's face :(

Nice recovery

Lizzie did an awesome job coloring her shamrock.

This is hard to see, but check out how Lizzie wrote her name. (It's backwards, but hey.)

Prima Ballerina Assoluta

Lizzie gave me a private dance recital this morning. (Don't mind the girls' uncombed hair and unfolded laundry. I'm not going to be winning any Mother of the Year awards any time soon.) :)

Sisters

This video was taken at Jeff and Sherry's the other week. I'm not sure which is funnier: Heidi's total want of hand-eye coordination, or the fact that Lizzie is so disgruntled because she has to wait her turn. (The part when Lizzie wipes her nose with her hand is pretty awesome too.)

Poor, Sick Kids :(

Interesting sleeping position

Two sickies konked out on the couch (Lizzie was hooked up to her nebulizer to help with her coughing.)

Kids Say the Darndest Things

The girls have been saying some really funny things lately. (I need to do better at recording them before I forget.)

Anyway, the other day we went to the Family Center at the Toledo Museum of Art. The girls painted for a while, and then we visited the adjoining room--filled with dress up, puppets, blocks, books, etc. While we we played, little Miss Lizzie was quite the social butterfly--with the kids AND grown ups. She told one dad: "I'm Lizzie, and that's my baby brother Owen. He came out of Mommy's belly button." (Um. Ok.)

Later she befriended another little girl's mom. When it was time to leave she proceeded to invite herself over to her house to play--repeatedly. (She was pretty insistent about it.)

So apparently we need to work on stranger danger. And we need to give Lizzie more opportunities to socialize.
