Bluebonnets and River Place Nature Trail

We've hiked River Place before (2.5 years ago), but this time we took the Little Fern Trail:
The bluebonnets are out!

This "Elephant Tree" is 700 years old! It even survived being struck by lightning. Heidi and I compared it to some of the younger, smaller trees, and talked about what it means to be "unshaken." Each time we pray, read the scriptures, attend church, etc. our trunk gets a little thicker and stronger, and we can become unshaken too--even when lightning strikes and other hard things happen to us. (See Jacob 4:4-11.)

The sign says that the hole there was caused by erosion from a 30-foot waterfall thousands of years ago.
