Gilleland Creek / McMurtry Farms

On our short hike today, we stopped and said hi to the goats. There were 14 of them, so the kids named them after Bilbo Baggins ("Billy" for short) and the 13 dwarves from The Hobbit.

This one's Bombur (because he's the biggest)

The littlest one is Bilbo, and the other one is Thorin Oakenshield.

Brushy Creek (Again again)

Brushy Creek goes on for many miles, so we could visit it for days if we wanted to. Another bonus is that it's in Williamson County, where they don't require you to wear face masks. (Face masks are required in Travis County for people over age 10, but you don't have to wear them while exercising. They can issue a $1,000 fine or throw you in jail for 6 months if you don't comply.)

If you zoom in on Lizzie and Heidi, they are holding hands. Aw.

There are tons of these snails here in Central Texas. We see them a lot. Their shells are beautiful. William says they are part of his bug team.

Brushy Creek (Again)

These kids have taken to tree climbing this week.

There were 4 of these giant pillars. I assume this used to be a bridge for the nearby railroad track.

The older kids trekked out onto this island. You can kinda sorta see Lizzie.

I thought this cactus looked like a komodo dragon.

As you can tell, Emma loved our hike. (Lol!)

Kensington Greebelt Trail (Round Rock)

The kids weren't too impressed with this hike--Owen in particular--but the girls did enjoy climbing some trees.

Balcones District Park (Austin)

We've done this trail a few times before, but it's been a while:

If you look closely, you can see a fuzzy caterpillar on the ground. Heidi claimed they can electrocute you...

...So we had to prove her wrong.

Brushy Creek Trail (Round Rock / Cedar Park)

A lot of trails are shut down for Easter weekend, but we finally found one!

He snuck his stuffed dragon on the hike.

They stopped to look at a caterpillar. This is a frequent occurrence on our hikes.
