Our Week (10/25 - 10/31)

 Emily voted early!

The kids dressed up as storybook characters for school. Heidi wins for most creative. She's a herpetologist, Monty Montgomery from Series of Unfortunate Events. (She came up with that idea all on her own.)

We bought a saucer swing for our new swingset:

William was Captain America for Halloween this year. Here he is doing his virtual preschool:
Heidi got this new dress from Grandma and Grandpa for her birthday the other week:
While Emily and Scott went out of town for 2 days for their anniversary (see next post), the kids hung out with Grandma Miller and Uncle Steven. They made Navajo tacos:

Ate lots of yummy sweets:

Played with Playdough:

And did lots of other crafty stuff:

Grandma also brought us a foosball table:

Heidi went to a Halloween party at Rose's house:

12th Anniversary Getaway

On our way out of town, we grabbed lunch at Gordough's Public House in Downtown Austin:

Then we drove to San Antonio, where checked into our hotel and explored. We stayed at the St. Anthony, a luxury hotel with some great history to it. It's located just a short walk from the Alamo and the Riverwalk. (In fact, we were able to walk everywhere we went all weekend.) These pictures were taken in the lobby:

We took this pic from the 6th floor pool. It was really nice up there:
And this pic was taken from the roof of our 10-story hotel, on the terrace:
We snapped this pic for Owen, because we thought he'd think it was cool:
Our hotel was right across from Travis Park:

On Saturday we visited some of the touristy spots right across from the Alamo. I took this pic for Nori (zoom in on the words) at the Guinness World Records Museum:
Also at the Guinness World Records Museum:
We went on Ripley's Haunted Adventure. (There was quite a line since it was Halloween.)
Lots of people were out in costume. I snapped this pic for the girls while we were waiting in line, because they were obsessed with Dora the Explorer when they were toddlers. (The Alamo monument and the Emily Morgan Hotel are in the background.)

We also did the Tomb Rider ride and arcade. Guess whose score was whose?
We got takeout for dinner and ate back at our hotel:

These pictures are out of order, but on our anniversary (a.k.a. Halloween) we had breakfast at the Colonial Room restaurant in the historic Menger Hotel. They've hosted lots of famous people--include Theodore Roosevelt--and the hotel has a reputation for being haunted, which is kind of fun.

They really went all out decorating for Halloween:

I liked the stained glass in their lobby. It was really pretty:
