Our Week (10/06 - 10/19)

At the orthodontist office. Heidi brought a friend along.
Playing dress up at playgroup.
Can you guess which Come Follow Me lesson this was?
For Columbus Day we went to Mammoth National Park in Waco:
There's a yellow line on the pole. That's how tall mammoths were. (And they weighed as much as a school bus.)
Not a great picture--but you can kind of see the remains.
Emma was practicing her walking.
Scientists' best guess is that the herd of mammoths died in a flash flood. There's a mural in the background of what likely happened. They also found evidence of a camel and a saber tooth tiger. You can read more here.
Life size painting of a Columbian mammoth. (Named after Christopher Columbus!)

Afterwards we had a picnic on the Brazos River:

You can see Baylor's football stadium in the background.
Suspension Bridge near downtown Waco. It's supposed to close for repairs and renovations in December, so it's good we got to see it when we did.

The kids had first quarter awards assemblies this week:

AND we went to the ward party:
Owen is not pictured because he was at football practice.
Liz and her vampire friend Anna
Heidi and her dementor friend Rose
Owen's football team
Video of Emma learning to walk. These were taken a week ago, so she's gotten better since then:

Our Week (09/22 - 10/05)

I forgot to post last week, so this week there are two weeks' worth of pictures. You'll see a lot of sports pics and lots of pictures of baby Emma. (I just love this stage and can't get enough of her.)

William and friends at Ezra Thomas's birthday party

Practicing volleyball at the park
Practicing with friends
With Simran

These days, Saturdays are long. This was around Hour 4 of 5.
(We have Owen's football game back-to-back with the girls' volleyball practices and games.)
Heidi was excited about her team snack.
Emma likes to chase balls while we watch...

...And take selfies.
Heidi went to a birthday party at Ceramic Lodge. She got to paint a horse, and she named it Buck Beak.

Emma's first ponytail!
He looks like Steve Urkel because the shorts they gave him were way too big, so Scott had to cinch them with one of the girl's hair ties and his flags, lol.
Practicing with Coach Brad

Owen usually plays Center on offense because he's pretty clueless and it's a low-skill job. (Takes after his mom, lol.)

Our Week (09/15 - 09/21)

Emma turned 11 months this week. She likes to play games and make this goofy laugh:

Mom and Dad went on a date.
We signed the three older kids up for sports this season. It's a seven-week season, with playoffs on the last week. Owen is doing flag football:
There are 10 boys on his team--the Texans--coached by Coach Brad.

And the girls are doing volleyball:
Heidi is one of 6 girls on her 1st - 3rd grade team, with Coach Bethany. She is the tallest and one of their best players--even though she's never played volleyball before.

Lizzie is one of 9 girls on her 4th - 7th grade team, with Coach Sushil. (We signed her up because her school friend Simran is on the team, and Simran's mom is the coach.) Liz hasn't mastered getting her serves over the net yet, but we're going to practice this week.
We went to a birthday party for Larry, one of Scott's retired work friends.

Our Week (09/08 - 09/14)

This is what she looks like after every meal. She takes a lot of baths these days.
Fishing at Mills Pond for a friend's birthday party

At the City's Bike Rodeo

(Fun fact: Heidi won the bike rodeo 3 years ago. The police came to her school and presented her with a medal. The last two years it was cancelled because of rain, so she's been looking forward to reliving the glory days for a long time.)
