St. Patrick's Day

We read St. Patrick's Day books that we checked out from the library and did some simple (really simple) activities:

We colored shamrocks to make place mats.

Look at Owen's face :(

Nice recovery

Lizzie did an awesome job coloring her shamrock.

This is hard to see, but check out how Lizzie wrote her name. (It's backwards, but hey.)

Prima Ballerina Assoluta

Lizzie gave me a private dance recital this morning. (Don't mind the girls' uncombed hair and unfolded laundry. I'm not going to be winning any Mother of the Year awards any time soon.) :)

Sisters

This video was taken at Jeff and Sherry's the other week. I'm not sure which is funnier: Heidi's total want of hand-eye coordination, or the fact that Lizzie is so disgruntled because she has to wait her turn. (The part when Lizzie wipes her nose with her hand is pretty awesome too.)

Poor, Sick Kids :(

Interesting sleeping position

Two sickies konked out on the couch (Lizzie was hooked up to her nebulizer to help with her coughing.)

Kids Say the Darndest Things

The girls have been saying some really funny things lately. (I need to do better at recording them before I forget.)

Anyway, the other day we went to the Family Center at the Toledo Museum of Art. The girls painted for a while, and then we visited the adjoining room--filled with dress up, puppets, blocks, books, etc. While we we played, little Miss Lizzie was quite the social butterfly--with the kids AND grown ups. She told one dad: "I'm Lizzie, and that's my baby brother Owen. He came out of Mommy's belly button." (Um. Ok.)

Later she befriended another little girl's mom. When it was time to leave she proceeded to invite herself over to her house to play--repeatedly. (She was pretty insistent about it.)

So apparently we need to work on stranger danger. And we need to give Lizzie more opportunities to socialize.

Poor Kid...

This little guy ended up with a runny nose this week--no fun. :(

Look Who's Climbing Stairs Now

Life just got a whole lot more complicated for Mommy:

Where does she come up with this stuff?

Check out Lizzie's latest creation:
We bought several 5-gallon water jugs for the week when we didn't have running water. Liz decided to put a skirt on it and give it a necklace (the toy blood pressure cuff), hair (the bandana), and a tiara.

Sisters

Awwww.

In this picture you can see what a great job Grandma did at curling the girls' hair. Liz is frowning because, to paraphrase, now her hair is going to be tangle-y. She hates it when her hair is tangled, because then Mom has to brush it and it hurts a lot.

Mom was trying to take a picture of Heidi's cute curls, but Heidi was so excited that she couldn't stand still. (She got some pretty good air on that jump.)

Owen and Aunt Sarah

Great View

This kid is a handful nowadays. He crawls fast, and he's really good at pulling himself up into a standing position. Here he is checking out the view of one of the "Four Corners Churches," from Grandma and Grandpa Baker's front room:

This One's for You, Grandpa Ellsworth

The other day Lizzie told me that she wanted to go "roping and rock climbing." I told her that it's called "rappelling," and that Grandpa Ellsworth would take her someday.
(She tied one scarf around her waist, and she tied a second scarf to the first one to use as a rope. I had to convince her not to try to climb on anything indoors.)

Grandin Press

Grandpa took the girls on a fun outing today. These are my two favorite pictures--the first one for obvious reasons, and the second one because I think it's hilarious:

Crocodile Tears

Grandpa took this picture of Mom giving Owen a haircut the other week. Poor little guy:

Because food tastes better when you kill it yourself... Cheez-Its are no exception. :)
(As if that weren't manly enough, he also grunts a lot at mealtime.)

Grandma's Nail Salon

Upper Body Strength

This guy loves to pull himself up on furniture. In this picture you can almost see the bruises on his forehead. (He falls a lot.) You can also see his new haircut and his two bottom teeth. (He's got one more tooth up top and another one about to break through.)

Good Imagination

Lizzie made a playground out of blocks: bridge, slide, seesaw, monkeybars, and pool.
(Can you say "cabin fever"? She is also really excited to go camping with Daddy.)

Sick

Lizzie threw up at church yesterday. (Not sure if it was a stomach bug or an allergic reaction to something she ate.) Grandma gave her a bowl in case she needed to throw up again, but Liz decided it would make a good hat instead:

Encore!

Owen learned how to clap this week:
