Our Garden

Our very first squash! (We've also gotten some green beans and spinach.)
Can you just see Owen thinking, "What's all the fuss about?"

LBJ Museum

LBJ is from the Texas Hill Country, so there is a museum dedicated to him on UT campus. Admission was free today because of Memorial Day, so we went and checked it out.
You can see the Longhorns' stadium in the background...
...And there's UT Tower.

The highlight for the kids was listening to the recordings through these telephone headsets, all over the museum.
I'm going to caption this one: "C'mon, Mom, why do you have to take so many pictures?"

Owen loved going fishing.

Lizzie's Artwork

Lizzie has been bringing home a lot of her school work since it's the end of the year, so I'm uploading some of my favorites here before I throw the originals away.
This is a mosaic of a city: There's a snowman, a table, a basketball court, a house, a museum, a movie theater, snow, an ice rink, a moon, and a planet.

The solar system

For Earth Day

The tooth fairy

For Earth Day, Lizzie and her classmates went outside and picked up trash. Here, Lizzie breaks down the steps: (1) gets a bag, (2) put on gloves, (3) go outside, (4) pick up trash.

This is Lizzie's rendering of Nephi and his brothers going to Jerusalem to get the brass plates. Lizzie's teacher really liked it and displayed it for a long time.

The Tree of Life

"I was getting ready for my birthday. I turned six. I am excited. I hope I get books for me. I am getting ready to go. My sister is too. My brother is too." You can see her at the airport and on the airplane. (We went to Utah for her birthday last year.)

"Today is February 15, 2016. Elizabeth says hi. I am going to play outside in my backyard." The impressive thing about this one is how she captured so many true-to-life details from our backyard in the picture.

This is Lizzie's depiction of when she hit her head on the ceiling fan and had to get stitches. "I hit my head on the ceiling fan so I had to go to the hospital."

This is a really true-to-life depiction of the rodeo fun run we went to back in March. (She said she didn't have time to finish.)

This was inspired by the kids' menu at Olive Garden. You can have spaghetti (3 choices of noodles), pizza (2 choices), fruit (3 choices), and drinks/desserts (4 choices).

You can't really tell, but this is 3-D.

She made this for Dia De Los Muertos. It's one of my favorites.

This is another one of my favorites. It's at Spring Lake in San Marcos. That's Emily with the red and white striped shirt. (I actually have a shirt like that.) You can also see the "trees knees" of the cypress tree on the right.

Here we are at the dinner table. That is Aunt Sarah in the middle. Lizzie painted this back in December, so she says she can't remember what she wrote there.

Family Picture

I've got to give the disclaimer that I really don't like this picture of me, but everyone else looks pretty good, so I'm including it here anyway. (We took it about a month ago for Mother's Day.)

New Crib

Some friends of ours are moving, so they gave us their old crib. Lucky us!

He looks so tiny in it!
Gotta love a bow legged baby! :)

Tummy Time

Disclaimer: This is a one-minute video of William lying on his tummy. It's not particularly interesting, so I won't blame you if you don't want to watch it. (But he is pretty cute.)

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

Lizzie went to the wildflower center on a field trip today. (Her third field trip of the year!) We met their group there and explored for about an hour.

Those are giant green caterpillars on the plants in the background, if you can believe it.

This little guy was a trooper. And absolutely adorable.
Heidi was pretty excited about her map, in case you couldn't tell. ;)

Just 6 days left of school, and this kid will be a 1st Grader!

This was the Dinosaur Creek / Watering Holes exhibit. Owen loved playing in the water and did not want to leave. (Yeah, it's a lot of fun to try to carry a newborn and a rebellious almost-three-year-old simultaneously.)
