Conversation between Daddy and Heidi

Daddy: Heidi, you're cute.
Heidi: I'm not cute. I'm Heidi!
Daddy [laughing]: You're funny.
Heidi: I'm not funny. I'm Heidi!

Enjoying the view from the warm kitchen

Seven inches and counting. (That's a ruler sticking up out of the snow.)
Side note: While Mommy was trying to get everyone dressed and ready to play in the snow, Lizzie informed her that she needed to: "Stop being cranky. You have to be nice, or Santa won't bring you any presents." Ha ha.

Couldn't you just eat this kid up?

Coaching from Lizzie

Lizzie and Mommy had this amusing conversation earlier this week:

Liz: Mom, will you tell Heidi to stop?
Mom [distracted, washing dishes]: Heidi, stop.
Liz: No, Mom. Get angry.
Mom [feigning anger]: Heidi, stop.
Liz: Louder, Mom!
Mom [louder]: Heidi, stop!
Liz: Ok.

[Liz then runs off to the other room to convey the message to Heidi, who wasn't even within earshot.]

O Christmas Tree

We found a 6' Christmas tree for $20 at Walmart yesterday and decided to get it. (Jeff would be so ashamed. Ha ha.)

(Within five hours, Heidi unwrapped three presents. All presents are now safely hidden on the top shelf of Mommy's closet.)

Backwards Day!

Heidi dressed herself this morning (pants and shirt on backward):

Christmas Card

Dear Family and Friends,

As Christmas draws near and the year draws to a close, we want to express our love and gratitude for friends and family and give you a little update on our lives:
  • Scott loves law school and plans to graduate next December. In addition to taking all the required classes and a few electives, Scott completed two externships in 2013—with a non-profit Toledo law firm and with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. He also spent the last semester as a mediator for the Lucas County Juvenile Court and the Toledo Small Claims Court. As if that weren’t enough, he’s also the president of the Health Law Society and serves as an officer to several other student organizations as well. Oh yeah, and he’s the ward Young Men president. He and the Scouts have participated in several Scout outings over the past year, including one in 40-degree weather just last month. Yep, Scott is one busy guy!
  • Emily also stays busy, trying to keep up with two preschoolers and an infant. She and the kids enjoy exploring Toledo and going for walks around the neighborhood when the weather is nice. In her spare time, Emily teaches online composition courses for Mesa Community College and serves in the Relief Society presidency. Emily also likes to experiment with new recipes.
  • Lizzie (4) and Heidi (3) are best friends and do everything together. Lizzie loves to practice her ABCs, play board games, dress up, do puzzles, plan picnics and parties, and dance. Heidi is a Daddy's girl and is fascinated by animals. She's pretty easy going and usually goes along with whatever Lizzie wants to do. If there were an award for the most books borrowed from the library, Lizzie and Heidi would probably win it. We check out dozens of books and movies every month to help us pass the time in anticipation of the highlight of every day—playing with Daddy.
  • Owen is our newest addition, born in May of this year. He loves to roll and scoot around, and he just had his first exposure to real food (if baby food can be considered “real” food). He is probably the best baby in the world, and we love having him around. Scott is particularly excited that he is no longer quite so outnumbered by girls. :o)
We are so grateful for our many blessings, and we are thankful to have you in our lives. We hope you are doing well and that you enjoy this Christmas season and the new year.

With love,
The Millers

Fun Fact: Part way through the party, the tornado sirens went off. But aside from the storm, the weather was beautiful today. We went for an afternoon walk in 65-degree weather. :o)
