Birthday Party

We decided to have a little birthday party for the baby brother to get the girls excited about having him home: presents, kisses, and ice cream . . . Can't beat that! :o)

Happy Memorial Day!

We celebrated Memorial Day by getting together with Uncle Jeff, Aunt Sherry, Michael, and Daniel. We had an indoor barbecue because it rained all day. Here we are eating ice cream:

Picnic at the Zoo

This month Mommy and her visiting teaching companion went to the zoo with one of the sisters that they visit. We had a picnic lunch and saw the new baby polar bear cubs.

(Yeah, Mommy isn't looking too particularly glamorous at 38 1/2 weeks pregnant.)

Providence Canal Boat

This morning we drove to Providence (about 30 minutes away) and rode a mule-drawn canal boat down a one-mile stretch of the Erie Canal. We even got to go through a lock twice! It was very cool:
(This is a stock photo; I didn't take this one.)
Here is a picture of the lock gates. You can read more about locks here.

Fix It Felixes

Such good helpers... What would Daddy do without them?

Camping

Scott has the Aaronic Priesthood Campout (a.k.a. Fathers and Sons) this weekend. (He's taking a few of his young men. Let's hope that his son doesn't decide to make his debut while he's away. Ha ha.) So today we acquired a new tent and cot, and the girls helped Daddy set them up in the backyard to check everything out:

Check out the girls' hair... Lots of static! :o)

Twinners

(I especially love Lizzie's pigtails.)
Here's some fun trivia for you: Did you know that when there's one ponytail, it's called a "ponytail"--when there are two, they're called "pigtails"?

Dandelions

So did you know that this flower (which you can find all over the place here, including in our backyard) . . .
  . . . Turns into this?

Playing with the dandelions in the backyard.
Heids got one a little too close to her mouth and ended up with a bunch of seeds on her tongue.

Nature's Neighborhood at the Zoo

We had planned to go to the zoo with Grandma and Grandpa Ellsworth and cousins Michael and Daniel today, but it didn't work out. :o( Still, we had a fun time hanging out in Nature's Neighborhood:

More Fun in the Backyard

Sidewalk Chalk

Botanical Gardens

Our picnic lunch

Popcorn popping on the apricot tree. These are everywhere, all over Toledo. This isn't even a very good example; it just happened to be across from the bench where Emily was resting.

This tree reminded us of Grandpa Baker's witness trees in the Sacred Grove.

80 Degrees Outside

Playing in the mud
(If you look at her mouth, I think she may have tried to eat some!)

Picking dandelions
Yes, the girls need haircuts. We'll probably go on Friday--Great Clips is having a $5.99 sale!--but I'm torn because I really want to grow their bangs out. If only they'd let me put clips in their hair!!!
