Last Day of School

This is what our kids looked like after school got out today (and William was asleep in his pack-n-play on the other side of the room):

Heidi's First Medal

We participated in a bike rodeo a couple months ago. Today, unexpectedly, someone from the police department showed up at Heidi's school. Heidi was pulled out of class and called to the office so that she could be presented with a medal for winning first place. Heidi was so excited. She won't take it off and says she's going to clean it every day.

End-of-Year Awards Assembly

Heidi got the "High Flyer" award for excelling in all subjects.
With her friends Rose and Holly
With Ms. Lagunero
Lizzie was honored at least three times during her assembly. (I was out in the hall with the boys the majority of the time, so I might have missed one.) She got a ribbon for Math Marvels, recognition for participating in Destination Imagination, and a Leadership Award from her teacher.

Owen's 4th Birthday

We took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese for lunch to celebrate:

Yeah, William really liked the carousel.

Owen got a bunch of water toys since we plan to hang out at the pool a lot this summer. (We have a pool in our neighborhood, so we have the kids signed up for swim lessons and plan to practice 5 days a week.)

Memorial Day

There are lots of cool veterans' parks and memorials around the Austin area. My favorite is in Cedar Park, but there's also a neat monument here in Pflugerville. Yesterday we decided to visit the Round Rock Veterans' Park. They have a monument right on the edge of Brushy Creek. We saw lots of really neat water fowl, canoes and kayaks, and there was a playground for the kids.

The kids have two great-great-great uncles on Scott's side of the family that died in World War IIUncle Ellis was a medic and received the Silver Star; he died on Tarawa in the Pacific. Uncle George was only eighteen and died on Iwo Jima.

Dance Party

The girls were dancing in the kitchen last night, and William joined in. It was crazy cute, so I grabbed my camera. Lizzie stopped dancing as soon as she saw me, but Heidi was excited about the attention. (Sorry it's long, but William only danced intermittently. He starts around 0:27. He's pretty cute.)

Mother's Day

The day started out around 6:00 am, when Lizzie got up early to make me breakfast:
On the menu was (soggy) Frosted Mini Wheats Cereal, untoasted bagels with peanut butter, and ice water. Yum. :)
I'm not sure why she thought to say I like to eat salad!? Lol.

This one's from Heidi. I give her super bonus points for the Cheez-Its answer.
We had pictures taken at JC Penney for Grandma. They're okay (especially the one of the girls), but I couldn't get a good one of all four kids together. Owen was a pill, and of course William can't hold still for very long at this age:

I'm lucky to be mom to these four kiddos, even if they don't photograph well! ;)

Heidi's Dance Recital

Heidi's face is really washed out in the video because of all the lights, but she is the tall, skinny thing--front and center. (Here is a link to another video of the performance: https://vimeo.com/217893306/046a46545e.)
Heidi's dance carpool friends: Chelsea (from the ward) and Roxy (from the stake).

Wearing make up!

I love this pose!
The first half of the recital Owen kept his ears covered the entire time and played on the Kindle. The second half of the recital I took the Kindle away and he did a contortionist act on my lap. (I can tell already... He is going to be very cultured.)

These pictures turned out kind of grainy, but isn't she pretty?

Grandpa Baker's Wedding

Dad and William got to fly out to New York together for Grandpa Baker's wedding:

School Days

The girls are counting down to the end of school... 11 1/2 more days!
The kindergartners are doing an ABC countdown. Friday was a Hawaiian themed day.
And Lizzie was a narrator in a class play about Tumbleweed Stew.
Meanwhile, Owen and I went on a date! William is in New York with Dad for a few days, so it was just me and Owen. We went to Lick Ice Cream...
...And played at the Thinkery, one of Owen's favorite places.

San Antonio Trip

We made a 24-hour trip to San Antonio to visit the temple and have a little family fun besides.
In celebration of Cinco De Mayo, we tried out a new Mexican restaurant in San Marcos.
We got to go swimming at our hotel.
We got to see the Riverwalk (one of our favorite places in San Antonio).
And we checked out a really cool park called Yanaguana Garden:

The kids were excited to play "wizards chess."
