Spring Pfling

Pflugerville Parks and Rec held a Spring Pfling to advertise their various classes and programs. We went to sign the kids up for summer swim lessons. While we were there, we met up with some friends. The kids enjoyed the bouncy house, petting zoo, and pony rides.

This kid was so worn out by our escapades today that he fell asleep like this, on the living room floor. (How does he do that?)

Round Rock Express Fan Appreciation Event

The Round Rock Express is our local Minor League Baseball team. We had a lot of fun checking out their stadium today. We did a scavenger hunt (and got 2 free tickets for a game), rode a train, played in the kids' Fun Zone (a playground inside the ballpark), and the girls even got to jump on bungee trampolines. The kids' loved it.

Pfarmers Market

We went to the farmers' market at this cool big red barn. During the summer there's a market there every Tuesday. And (bonus) it's right next to one of our favorite playgrounds!

Random

Owen has been wearing really interesting outfits lately. (He owns his own pair of boots, but they got mud on them on one of our outings this week, so he's been wearing Heidi's lately.)
Our friend Lila (from Austin) came over to play for a few hours on Friday. We took them to the park near our house and to see the goats, chickens, and guineafowl. They are looking to buy a house in our ward, so we have our fingers crossed!
Lizzie cleaned her room all by herself after Lila and Owen trashed it. She was very proud. I asked her to make a video for me since I was nursing a headache and didn't want to walk all the way upstairs at that moment. (Lazy mom.)

St. Patrick's Day

I checked out a book from the library about St. Patrick's Day. It gave Lizzie the idea that she wanted to catch a leprechaun and demand its pot of gold. (You should ask her about it; her plan involved a baseball bat.)

I wanted to be festive and buy some gold coins for a treasure hunt, but in the end we just settled for homemade Shamrock shakes because I had a headache:
William was a fan!

Georgetown

Today we spent a few hours in Georgetown, two cities north of us. We checked out a fabulous playground and then went for a hike along San Gabriel River.
The blossoms are a little hard to see in this picture, but oh so pretty!
This park IS AWESOME!
We went for a hike along the very beautiful San Gabriel River. Liz wasn't impressed. She says, "Where's the forest?" Apparently, if there is no forest, then it doesn't count as a hike. (My bad.)

More Adventures

Today we stayed closer to home. We went for a hike and picnic at Balcones District Park (just 1 mile from Dad's work) and then dug for fossils at Champion Park in Cedar Park. On our way home we took a quick pit stop at Chisholm Trail Crossing in Round Rock because Mom wanted a picture of "the" round rock.
It is blue bonnet season! Blue bonnets are the state flower, and this time of year they are everywhere. You're not a Texan unless you go take a picture out with the blue bonnets each spring.
I took over half a dozen pictures and, believe it or not, this was the best one. (Lol.)

This park has a dinosaur pit where you can dig for fossils!

Lizzie kept trying to bury William in a hole that she dug, but he wouldn't stay put. (Smart kid.)

Brushy Creek. There were lots of fish and tadpoles swimming around.
Heidi was a little bit nervous posing next to this statue of the longhorn.
If you look hard, you can see the round rock in the background. Back in the day, this used to be a very popular place for cattle herders to cross the creek because of its low water, so a settlement sprung up here, which they named Round Rock.

Marble Falls

Marble Falls is about 60 miles west of us. Today we checked out the Balcones Canyonlands Wildlife Preserve, Sweet Berry Farm, and Blue Bonnet Cafe.
We went on a one-mile nature hike. This lazy kid made Mom carry him the whole way, can you believe it?
(There's a small pond in the background.)
Yay for picnics!

H is for Heidi

Picking strawberries

Saying hi to the goats
It's Pi Day! And this place is FAMOUS for its pie! We had to wait in a crazy long line that extended all the way into the parking lot.
Mom got a slice of chocolate cream pie, her favorite! And we got french fries and ketchup because, you know, vegetables. (We are all about eating healthy in our house, lol.)
If you weren't already hungry for pie... You're welcome! (This is just a stock photo from the restaurant's website, but it blew my mind so I had to throw it in here.)
And the icing on the cake... We made a pie out of all the strawberries that we picked!
